I'm In Dallas!

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Annapolis Mayor Josh Cohen say more than $150,000 in checks and cash were stolen from a vault in city hall.

Cohen told the city council Monday that the theft was discovered June 8 when the vault in the Finance Department's office was opened to allow a courier to pick up the funds to make a bank deposit.

Nearly $150,00 in checks made out to the city and nearly $4,000 in cash were stolen. The finance department is asking check writers to stop payment and write new checks to the city. The stolen checks are stamped "deposit only" so they cannot be cashed.

The mayor says he is furious because he was not told of the theft until Monday. Police were called immediately after the discovery and are investigating.
