Illinois city bans 'strippermobile'
COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (UPI) -- An Illinois city passed an ordinance aimed at keeping the "strippermobile," a mobile advertisement for adult entertainment, away from its streets.
The Collinsville City Council passed an ordinance Monday banning live entertainment vehicles and trailers from the city's streets, the Belleville (Ill.) News-Democrat reported Tuesday.
"It's my job to inform the council that this is not a joke," Police Chief Scott Williams said during Monday's meeting.
He said the "strippermobile" van features barely dressed women dancing behind glass. The van, which advertises adult entertainment businesses in the area, has been spotted in several locations around the town.
"It's an effort to generate publicity, and it's working," Williams said.
