Vanity Wins Out!

JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Jersey City police say an accused carjacker was captured after a picture he took of himself with the victim's cellphone was automatically forwarded to her computer.

Eighteen-year-old Omar Richardson was arrested this week after he appeared in Municipal Court on an unrelated charge. He remained jailed Sunday on $100,000 bail.

Police tell The Jersey Journal (http://bit.ly/xanlF7) that the 20-year-old victim was carjacked Jan. 29 by a man wearing a ski mask who also stole her phone. The woman had a phone app that automatically sends all its pictures to her computer, and Richardson's photo appeared shortly after she reported the carjacking.

The woman printed out the photo and gave it to police, and an officer realized the man as Richardson. He's charged with carjacking, armed robbery and weapons offenses.
